OKIE-DOKIE
OKIE-DOKIE is that winter finally over? Pull them
scooters out, dust 'em off, put on a charger fer abit, change oil if they have
been sitting in the cold [condensation accumulates], put in fresh gas [modern
fuel goes bad quick], and fire them puppies up! Put on yer longhandles, heavy
leather, and gloves and hit the road. It's over, we made it through another one.
Time to enjoy what we're all about, the fruits of our Freedom so to speak. We
earned it! Be careful of all that leftover gravel out there, don't want to start
the season with a Bang if ya know what I mean. Got 4 out of 7 bikes running so
I'm a little ahead. One [Goodtime Charlie chopper] is down because the chassis
is off to paint, another [Softail] I'm converting to a trike and waiting for
parts, and the third ['47 Knuckle] is I'm too lazy/old to start kicking the life
back into it for 45 minutes. It will start but but these days I poop out pretty
quick, must be all that wild livin' I did in my younger misadventures. I'm
jammin' on my ol' 1940 Flathead 74 most of the time, kinda stands out in the
crowd of bikes. I know you got enthusiasm for the spring but don't get all
boozed up and ride for a number of reasons; 1<> It's dangerous, I look back at
alot of my crashes that were alcohol/drug related [I left that stupid crap
behind]. 2<> It's illegal, a jail cell is really a Buzzkill. 3<> Expensive,
Fixing your bike and you from a crash not to mention the legal aspect of getting
busted with the lawyer costs/court fines/insurance rate increases. I know of
whence I speak with 4 DUI's to my credit! 4<> You can't really enjoy the moment
if all you are doing is looking out for the cops. Alot of times I wouldn't ride
somewhere because I was too messed up, what's up with that? Anywho that's just
my opinion/experience. Now on to my job of Zzen chapter news; The April 5th
meeting was in Chancellor with about 15 members present. We picked up 2 new
members, I can't tell you who they are 'cause Hey, we're Zzen! Topics included
tryin' to find a tree to hang that WIZ guy from for his chapter reports, Slack's
info from the state meeting, and the Riders Course. That is a pretty good deal
from what I understand you pay $60. to take it and you get it back afterwards.
You can find out more at www.southdakotasafetycouncil.org or call
1-800-952-5539. Also check out wheeljam.com. Our next secret meeting is June 7th
at the Shore Store on the banks of Swan Lake @ 1pm. UT-OH I gotta go, I see the
lynch mob is here lookin' fer me. Later, Wiz P.S. I decided to heck with that
Honda generator motor for this mini-chopper. I need a chainsaw [big one] to make
it haul ass, anybody got one?
