FREEDOM vs. MONEY
I returned from Legislative Days in Pierre with mixed feelings about the events
that transpired there. We had a fair turnout of concerned bikers who showed up
to fight for ALL of the motorcyclists of the state and the world. We need alot
more. So many enjoy the freedoms that so few give to them through their
vigilance and dedication. Yeah, I get pissed sometimes when I ask someone when
they are out riding joyfully without a helmet if they are an ABATE member and
the response is that it isn't on their list of priorities, and don't bother them
about it. They act as if it is a given to enjoy the freedoms that a few have had
to wrestle away from the powers that be. And the $25 bucks to join ABATE is just
too much money to pay for something they can't readily see as a benefit to them.
By sticking their head in the sand they leave their ass wide open to be kicked
or worse, you know what I'm talking about as they have been doing it to us in
that locale for years now, anybody got some Vaseline? It would be nice for a
little foreplay first, just a smack on the cheek would do, maybe some flowers or
something. I tried licking THEM once on the face and they didn't like it too
much, well maybe a couple of female legislators but on the whole, nope.
Especially one elected official with big ears, but I think it was what
Shakespeare said "I think he doth protest too much". Maybe he liked it and it
scared him in his sexuality, whatever. I admit on my part alcohol was a factor,
do ya think?? I don't do that happy crap no more but that is my choice. I was
really proud to be part of the ABATE family up there and not only by making a
showing but the issues discussed and the speakers we had were great. Thank you
all who attended. One segment was what legislation should we address. We decided
that if it wasn't directly motorcycle related we should stay out of it. Albeit
being a individual rights issue we wanted to get involved, but we would have to
fight it on an individual basis. One example was our little buddie Rich Engals
introduction on the primary seatbelt law. Before the cops couldn't pick you up
just because you weren't wearing your seat belt, now they can pick you up just
for that. His reasoning was the 5.2 million in Federal blackmail money we as a
state would recieve if passed. Let's see, the way the Government goes through
money that would pay for half a streetlight. But that ain't all of the money
that could be generated from selling out our freedom of choice, don't forget
about all the income from fines and whatever else they find when they pull you
over. This crap about "For your own Good", where does it stop? Let's see, alot
of people get hurt every year from falling out of bed. Therefore I propose
legislation to require seatbelts [bedbelts] and helmets to all who sleep,
punishable by fine and imprisonment. They would set up another branch of law
enforcement [The Federal Pillow Police] FPP, to sneak into our bedrooms, raise
the covers, and check us out for compliance. Of course more revenue from the
taxation of the sale of bedbelts and fiberglass bed bonnets would ensue.
Individual freedoms, what's that, there's money to be made here. Sounds
ridiculous but we know it can happen. More people need to get involved so it
don't! Okie-Dokie enough for now, Nightty-Nite!
On to Zzen chapter news, Hummm, not much to report. My work schedule has
prevented me from attending the meetings lately but I have my informers
everywhere telling me what's going on. The fight was on in Nebraska for their
freedom of choice on helmets, as of this writing I don't know how that went. I
personally E-mailed EVERY legislator in that state, and there are alot of 'em,
about how much money they are losing by riders avoiding their state on the way
to Sturgis and the statistics on helmet use. I do what I can. SHUUSSH, don't
tell anyone but our next secret meeting of the Zzen freedom fighters is April
4th @ 1 pm in the hidden location of the Chancellor Bar in Chancellor, SD. We
will have lookouts to make sure no unauthorized personnel are admitted. Can't be
to lax on security ya know. I wonder how many people fall off barstools every
year? Don't get me started! HOOTIE-HOOT!!! Wiz
