THE KLIKTRONIC
ELECTRIC SHIFTER
Yes, it works great! I miss less shifts now.
$975.00 plus $35.00 shipping
The
KLIKTRONIC system is best described as an 'electronic foot'.
Operated by two discreet buttons - usually mounted on the left
handlebar which sit conveniently beneath the thumb.
It is powered by the bike's electrical system, unlike air shifters,
once fitted there is virtually no maintenance, no bulky gas bottles
to fill.
It is dual acting for both up & down shifts, and is very fast and
consistent - typically 35 - 50 milliseconds on Japanese gearboxes.
Suitable for virtually any kind of riding, whether you are looking
for a fast change for racing or track days, comfort and convenience
when cruising, or whether you have a disability preventing you from
changing gear with your foot - the Kliktronic is the ideal solution
for everyone.
More recently we have seen an increase in bike-engined cars, again
it is perfect for this application, giving you a true F1 type feel,
using either steering wheel buttons or paddles for a truly slick
gearchange.
The animation below shows how simple the action is - all you
do is push the
GREEN button for UP ----------- RED button for DOWN

Tim Svoboda´s Story:
In September of 98´ a collision between my motorcycle and a
truck resulted in the loss of my left leg above the knee and the
total wreck of my 93´H-D. During my recovery I kept thinking
about how and when I would be riding again. With the
encouragement of my wife, Mary Anne, and the help of Jerry Evans
at Sport Motors in Eau Claire, WI, I purchased a 98´ H-D in
December of 98´. Jerry rigged it with a sidecar and a mechanical
right foot shift set up we found in North Carolina. This got me
on the road again in the summer of 99´. The next thing was a
wheel system to replace the sidecar in January of 00´. This
improved my riding pleasure greatly. The next thing I found was
the KLIKTRONIC ELECTRIC SHIFT. I had it fitted in April of 01´
and have since put 5000 miles on it. IT IS SO SLICK!!! If I had
three legs, I wouldn't want to give it up. My riding pleasure is
10 times greater than it was.
The next thing I want to do is get back to leaning into the
curves and corners of the roads. Then my recovery will be
complete.
There is a one year warranty on the electrical parts for the
Kliktronic Electric Shifter. Now that is out of the way, let’s
talk about the shifter. Our shifter works on any motorcycle type
engine from 125 cc to 2400 cc. It works on ATVs and cars with a
motorcycle engine and is used also for racing applications. It
is manufactured in England using the best materials available.
It was designed by two electrical engineers as an aid to help
one of their sons get back on the road after a terrible accident
left him unable to shift with his left foot. Our shifter will
fit just about any motorcycle and has the power to shift even
heavy transmissions like Harley-Davidson and Moto Guzzi.
I have only had my Kliktronic since September of 2006 ( I am a
nubie.) I love the reliability and it has allowed me the freedom
to feel the wind in my face. There are no words to express how I
feel when I’m riding. But, you know that, don’t you?
I was very impressed when I met Tim this June. He was involved
in a bike accident that resulted in the loss of his left leg
above the knee. This is his story. “I have had one on my ‘98
Harley=Davidson FLHTC since May of 2001 and have put over 44,000
miles on it with a few minor adjustments or maintenance. I also
have an 1800 Gold Wing Trike and that shifter has 26000 miles on
it. These two shifters have never failed me or stranded me. You
can see that it is very durable and trouble free. The shifter is
also very fast and consistent.”
The Kliktronic Universal kit consists of a handlebar switch,
control box, a mounting bracket and the actuator. Installation
usually takes about 4 to 6 hours and is quite easy to do. Most
bikers that do some work on their own motorcycles will be able
to install it themselves. The install is not difficult, BUT it
must be exact. The electrical connections are very easy----+
battery, -battery and a hot ignition on wire connection. Our
newest model comes prewired to accept an ignition interrupt
switch, which would allow full throttle upshifts without using
the clutch. If this would be the fourth connection, an ignition
interrupt switch would also be required, which we also have in
stock . On most bikes there is usually a convenient spot to
mount the actuator, either to the frame or to the primary drive
area. On Harley-Davidson open V-twin motorcycles the front frame
down tube works well in most cases. The control box is slightly
larger than a pack of cigarettes and is easy to fit under the
seat or in the faring. The switch assembly goes down on the left
handlebar between the grip and the clutch lever housing and
needs ¼” of space. The weight of the unit is about 5 pounds
which has little or no effect on the power to weight ratios.. It
lends itself to race applications extremely well, be it drag,
road or street racing. In the case of drag racing this unit
allows you to lay down on a a street bike and still shift. And
as far as road racing or street racing, be it closed circuit or
on back country roads, this will give you faster and more
consistent shifts without having to take your feet off the pegs.
All this gives you some of the fastest times you ever had and
moves you up to the front of the pack.
For those of us with a disability, this shifter means new
found freedom. It gets us back out on the road and riding in a
safe way and allows us to have both hands on the handlebars
instead of using a hand shifter. These are a few points about
our shifter. I hope this answers some of the common questions
you may have about the Kliktronic Electric Shifter.
